What?

COSC 25.02 is the optional second part of the UI/UX sequence. It is an independent study that applies what you learned in COSC 25.01 to a real-world project utilizing principles and practice of UI and UX design.

Students in this course complete UI/UX work for a project, write up a case study for the project, and design an online portfolio.

Who?

The course is only open to students who have successfully completed COSC 25.01 and Instructor Permission is required.

All students must complete a project proposal via email or slack to Lorie and Natalie.

HOW?

Students who wish to take this course have a few options.

  • Most students will take COSC 25.02 through the DALI Lab. NOTE: You must have applied and been accepted to work as a designer in DALI before requesting permission to take COSC 25.02. The application process is explained HERE. Applications for upcoming terms are generally mid-way through the term before or in the spring for the fall term. Contact the DALI Lab for more information. Students taking DALI for credit are not paid.

  • Some students can find a project on their own or with Lorie’s help. Projects must:

    • Be for credit not pay

    • Be part of a research project with a faculty member or with a non-profit. You cannot do this work with a for-profit company even if you are not paid.

    • The projects must be approved by Lorie the term before you wish to take the course.

    • To get your project approved, you need to submit a project proposal that includes a description of the project, your weekly plan for completion, and a metric for evaluation. Send the proposal to Lorie and Natalie.

    • As this is an independent study course, it is possible to take this course remotely, if needed.
